PostSubject: Fire Emblem: Awakening   Fire Emblem: Awakening EmptySun Dec 23, 2012 1:42 pm

You guys have no idea how pumped I am for this game!!! Aside from the fact that all Fire Emblem games are awesome (perhaps Shadow Dragon not so much), there are also many new features!

-You can create your own unit. He'll be a strategist class (can wield swords+magic) or any class you want to switch him/her into.
-Improved connectivity: you can face your friend's parties and even hire their personal "My Unit" into your own party.
-DLC: Through DLC you not only get new areas+story missions, you also get the chance to recruit characters from older games. Examples :Ike, Roy, Marth, Ephraim, Elincia, Catria, Eirika, etc.
-Marriage. Yep you read correctly. The support system has improved to the point that you can marry characters with each other once they reach a certain point in their relationship. Apart from more character depth+improved stats, these marriages help you get sidequests and more units.

There are also other features that I can't remember at the moment, but these are the main ones. It comes out February 4th, 2013. We should all get it!!!

you'll need to lvl grind a lot. Reclass first then use the master seal. I recommend reclassing your female characters into dark flier as soon as you can to get the galeforce skill which allows you to move again after you defeat an enemy. Absolute pwnage

Fire Emblem: Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Fire Emblem: Awakening   Fire Emblem: Awakening EmptyMon Feb 18, 2013 10:20 pm

All right I'll tell you everything I know.

First of all, any female character that can class into pegasus knight should do immediately. Why? Galeforce. You can get it when you promote to dark flier and reach lvl 15. It basically allows your units to move again when they defeat an enemy so if you have a lot of good units that have this skill you can clear a map fairly quickly.

One thing to note about this though is the children characters. When you marry units together you will eventually (at ch 14) get paralogue chapters where you can recruit the children of these marriages. The awesome part about the children is they not only get increased base stats depending on how high their parent's stats are, but they also inherit the last skill your parents learn. So a good thing to do when your female units learn galeforce is to recruit the children as soon as you can before they learn a new skill.

Highly important because not all units can class into pegasus knight, especially since no male characters can class into it at all.

2nd of all, Donny is a BEAST. He is by far the best unit in my army and was the first to cap his stats. Why? Aptitude. It gives an increased 20% chance of every single stat to grow upon level up. This is why it is key to marry him to another character since that child will be able to class into aptitude and have an increased stat gain like his father. If the mother passed on galeforce to him+ you have him learn a skill like lethality or astra and you have an absolute BEAST in your hands.

Third, Husbands/parents can also pass on extra classes that the child can learn other than the base classes they have. Gaius is the best choice for either Sully, Tharja, or Nowi since he's the only character that can pass on the Pegasus Knight class to their children. Even though they are female, the children of these characters don't have base access to the pegasus knight class so pairing Gaius with one of them can yield you yet another unit that can learn galeforce and lead to much awesomeness.

When it comes to which parent gives what classes I used the fire emblem wiki to determine the pairings that best fit my battle plan: http://fireemblem.wikia.com/wiki/Fire_Emblem:_Awakening

Just go to the character list and it'll give you the details.

For characters that I believe are awesome I'll give you my list of favorite characters (in no particular order):

1. Lissa. paired her with Donnel and had her learn galeforce then classed her into falcon knight. She killed everything.

2. Lon'qu+Gaius. Epic dodges, and when I mean epic I mean EPIC. Nothing could touch em even though they had low def.

3. Cherche: Extremely high strength.

4. Kellam: A tank. If it wasn't magic he could take it.

5. Chrom: aether+rightful crown, nuff' said.

6. Lucina: same as Chrom.

7. Inigo: My son with Olivia, really awesome.

8. Olivia: Classed her into assassin and became just as awesome as Gaius+Lon'qu

9. My Unit: switched him to warrior to learn counter and he capped strength at 51. I killed the final boss with a bronze axe, to make an example.

10. Owain: Donnel+Lissa's son. Absolute pwn.

11. Donnel: already explained.

12. Mirabelle: Same as Lissa.

and those are pretty much my elite in my first game. I'm working on a better team on my 2nd playthrough at the moment.

PostSubject: Re: Fire Emblem: Awakening   Fire Emblem: Awakening EmptyMon Feb 18, 2013 10:48 pm

Useful classes:

*Swordmaster and assassin definitely. Astra+lethality are beast skills that any character that can have them, should.

*General: Pavise is great for defensive reasons.

*Lord/great lord/tactician/grandmaster are all a must for children characters that can have them.

*Pegasus Knight/Dark Flier I already explained why.

*Mercenary/Hero are awesome for characters like Donny who have high luck. This luck combined with the armsthrift skill makes weapon usage decrease by a lot. The skill makes it so that weapon usage doesn't go down and it depends on the luck skill. Legendary weapons anyone?

*Warrior: Counter. If any adjacent unit attacks you they get dealt the same damage they dealt to you.

Dark Knight: Lifetaker. if you defeat an enemy you recover 50% health

Barbarian: despoil. if you kill someone you get 1000g. good for money grinding.

*Myrmidon: avoid+10 and vantage. You get to attack first if you have less than half health left with vantage.

*Villager: weak but you get aptitude. Awesome skill.

The asterisk denotate classes I have used and have firsthand experience on how awesome they are. The ones that don't have an asterisk are ones I haven't messed around with yet. I shall add some more to the list when I get some rest since I'm feeling pretty tired at the moment. Hope it helps Kraizer!

i heard Mirabelee kinda sucks cuz she cant get Healtouch

also i heard a good class path for Male characters was mercenary>somethingsomething>hero cuz it was a good alternative to dark flier.

i feel sooo behind im only on chapter 11 Sad

That's only if you want to use her as a healer, I don't so I'm all right with that.

Mercenary is good if you want armsthrift to have near-to-infinite weapon usage but I prefer myrmidons since you get +10 avoid and vantage which I deem more useful. After that Hero (since its usually more balanced+you wield swords and axes), is probably the better choice between assassin, swordsmaster, and hero but I would still go through the assassins+swordsmaster classes to get astra+lethality.

next thing. how do you feel about archers and mages?

here im thinking Advance Wars logic, indirect attacking = amazing.

but fire emblem idk. they have their use in places, but that seems only so much for the effort (if you want) to put in them

PostSubject: Re: Fire Emblem: Awakening   Fire Emblem: Awakening EmptyTue Feb 19, 2013 5:55 pm

Yeah I take the same stance for the most part. I usually prefer up close and personal units over indirect units, especially when it comes to archers since they can't attack at close range. Mages I don't like as much for their lack of defense, they're usually glass canons i.e. they can pack a punch but it doesn't take much to eliminate them.

The game makes the choice simpler since even close-range units can obtain long-range weapons such as handaxes, javelins, and levin swords.

Ideally the best units to get are the ones that provide a good match of close-range+far-range attacks, such as dark fliers who can wield magic+lances, bow knights/assassins/warriors who can wield bows+swords/axes and others of the same sort.

I do have to admit that I unfairly judge the magic classes since I haven't really given them a shot. I've heard Tharja can be pretty deadly but I haven't tried it myself. I shall work on some magic users at some point later on and see what comes out of it. Let me know if you find out if they're good or not too.

Dual Guard+ by the Great Knight class which increases 10% guard chance in pair up mode
Dual Support+ by the Valkyrie which increases support bonuses

aaand that's it.

yeah I'm up for it man! Though I think it might be a tad unenteratining since I'm usually very quiet on strategy games but hey! we'll give it a shot.

Yeah hard mode was made easier for me since I grinded on the dlc maps. I haven't made it past ch 5 on my female playthrough and she's already a darkflier at lvl 4 and Chrom is a great lord at lvl 5.

You should download the free dlc and even if you dont get much exp you should work on supports since it makes it easier to lvl up characters.

Pairing up is the best thing to go for most of the time in this game.
