Nintendo 3DS

Yep, I'm definitely getting them. I plan on getting Paper Mario, Zelda OOT 3DS, MGS 3, and Tales of the Abyss (if it gets localized of course). I know I ranted once about too many DS's, but seeing as this new DS is breaking off from old DS's (it has 3D tech, the others don't) I'm willing to get it. Besides, it would be a good time to trade up from my old white DS lite XD. Oh yeah on a side note, I think I'm getting pokemon black :O

you said there were too many DSs but you havent said anything about Pokemon, lol.

i could still be using my brick DS if the dam thing wasnt fragile as glass. i like the 3DS but i would so much love to hear some more information on these games coming out. besides the remakes no other 3DS game has a confirmed title and we barely seen 3 pictures of them. end mild rant

Pokemon is a videogame not a console so I don't really mind it, besides they make fundamental changes to every game like new pokemon, global trade station, battle frontier, etc. The DS system only changed in size, shape, and with the dsi and dsi xl they included the dsware shop or whatever its called. 3DS is a new console on its own pretty much with its own games coming out and everything, plus all the new stuff they included with it like 3D and such.

Oh yeah the release date is out!! 3DS will come out here in the states on March 27th, for 249.99$ A bit pricey if you ask me, but im sure its worth it

I saw this happening, for the 3d tech, I believe it's a reasonable price.

So, Gamestop is having a trade-in offer for the 3DS.

The Trade-in prices are as follows-
DS Lite - $50
DSi - $75
DSiXL - $100

This offer is in effect til February 20th, and the prices are what you get ONLY if you use them towards a 3DS pre-order. I know 100% i'm trading in my DSi, so my price is down to $175 right away. My Lite, i'm on the fence about... I mean, I would LOVE to only pay $125 or less for the 3DS, but I also love my Lite dearly... gold zelda edition. Trading that in will definatly be a hard one if I choose to do so...

But, one other thing, it may not be part of the offer, but it still helps. Seeing as how little I play my psp anymore, I rarely play it nowadays, and the hacking community has been thoroughly crushed to a pulp as of late... I don't see myself getting the full use out of my Sony Handheld. So, with that being said, I do plan to trade my PSP in, as well as my games for it. Maybe I can get more than usual since it has an extended life battery??

However, Marc, you may tell Scott that'd I'd be willing to sell him any of my psp games that'd he'd like for $5 each... I wouldn't get much more from Gamestop anyways.

scott told me to buy your psp. however after several reconsiderations as to what i wanna buy, im not interested in a psp anymore. as to the 3ds im not so sure i wanna get that upon first release either. im sure i will be able to find good used prices OR the possibility of the 3ds successor. We all know eventually there will be a 3ds2 or something. im still waiting to buy a good wii game that could catch my eye i think the last game ive ever bought was wii sports resort excluding christmas. hmm....i dont wanna take this thread more off topic so ill end here lol

3DS Successor... you know how far down the road that is, right? The original Ds came out in 2004 and lasted until now, If the 3DS has as long as a lifespan then we're looking well into 2020. The 3DS is pre-ordering at faster rates than the Wii has, and it has so many advantages over the original DS and it's counterparts.

Some examples are -
Analog Pad
Home; suspend the game and come back later
it can take 3D pictures
record 3D video
3D itself (obvious XD)
Spot Pass and Street Pass
Universal Friend Codes (Yes, no more separate friend codes per game!)
friend's list topping off at around 150
Cradle Charger (this enables the ability to NEVER needing to turn your DS off.)

If you choose to skip over the 3DS, you'd be missing out on a lot, my friend.

As for wii games, i'm shocked that Monster Hunter tri hasn't caught your eye.

argh you miss read me. how long was the time spans between the brick DS, DS Lite, DSi and the XL? im saying how long until the 3DS, 3DS Lite, 3DSi, XL, and the 3DS to the 64th POWAH! come out?

which brings me to a new question. any word on the backward compatibility of the 3ds?

The 3DS can play all previous DS games, as well as the NES, SNES, GB, and GBC games put on the 3DS's eStore, no word on GBA though.

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to buy gba games for the 3DS. I mean why not? Nintendo could make a crap load of money by re-releasing awesome gba games for the 3DS. Heck I think they might even go as far as adding N64 games for it. Hey if it can play an advanced version of Ocarina of time it can play anything the n64 has to offer!

If not on launch, i can see it as a possibility in the future. Just look at the Wii Shop channel for an example. They have WiiWare, Arcade games, and a bunch of things that weren't there on launch.

I'm just happy since i traded in my DSi towards the pre-order for the 3DS. I still have my Lite too! Thank God I won't habe to go a whole month without DS!

Got some new tidbits of info on the 3DS for you guys.

As nintendo has stated before, the 3DS can Play & Charge, so if you're at home and want to stay plugged in, go right ahead.

Though, that's pretty much nothing next to this, the 3DS does have MP3 playback like the DSI before it, via SD Card. But what's new is that the 3DS has the capability for MP3 playback DURING 3DS games, enabling custom soundtrack! What's a shame though, is that no developers are currently looking into it... -_-;;

Yeah I saw that! I wonder if you can add your own playlist and have it play when you play...

I don't know about playlists, it may just cycle through the songs you have, but only if the Developers allow you to use your own music.

and Krazy, Nintendo has officially stated that they have no short-term plans for a "lite" 3DS, So don't expect one until at least 4 years from now.

well id just love to say that im getting the 3DS but that is probably a promise i wont be able to keep. i now really want to get it to make some summer road trips more fun, another bad thing is that my mom shelters me and takes control of MY own money. ive been eyeballing 5 or so games and if im buying a $250 system with games that will probably cost $40 each, do the math...how the hell am i gonna find $450 come launch? i understand you guys have jobs but i dunno how you do it...you guys must be millionaires working part time. as for my case i dont see anything wrong with waiting 2 months or so. by then some good used prices should rise and i wont miss out on anything. hm, id love to sell some things but most games i got are just too invaluable. Well I traded many of my games to buy the xbox 360 games I wanted, and I also traded more old games to get pokemon black. For dragon age 2 I got a discount at amazon, and for the 3DS I will probably get no games for it for a while unless I trade in my ds lite which I don't want to

I don't really see why the wouldn't sell GBA games of the eShop either, but so far Nintendo hasn't announced anything about them. We could always hope it'll come sometime before Xmas maybe.

And Nintendo is doing away with Nintendo Points for the 3DS, your funds on the shop channel will be shown like ps3, actual dollar amounts. You can add funds via Credit Card or the new prepaid nintendo cards that they'll be releasing later in the year (Presumably late May, when eShop channel is out)

And it seems in Japan, they're selling 3DS games early. It's 9 days until the launch there and they have all sorts of displays at major stores, and lemme tell ya, the new 3DS Game boxes... I like 'em. XD

It seems like ToA will be released for the 3DS in the launch window... but only in Japan... No confirmation whether its gonna be localized or not.

Well, in that case, i'm praying it not region-locked.
